Our aim as Ysgol y Garnedd Parents and Teachers’ Association is to support the school and raise enough funds to buy additional resources for the benefit of the pupils. With the money that is raised, we contribute towards school trips, and pay for swimming lessons for year 2 pupils for a school term. We have also paid for t-shirts and swimming caps for the school swimming team, resources for the Cookery Club and opportunities for the pupils in the Autism Unit to develop social skills. Money was also provided for the school to build a shed and garden for the children. One of the targets this year is to raise enough money to establish an adventure playground in the school for all the pupils. This request came from the children themselves.
Each year the events are organised by a small group of dedicated and hard working individuals. There’s a full and exciting programme of social events – from a treasure hunt to a bingo night, cinema nights, duck race, Christmas Fair and Summer Fête. The events are very popular with the children and parents!
The committee has lots of fun organising the activities but we’re always looking for new ideas and more members, so we’d be very glad to see you in the next meeting. A text message will be sent by the school to tell you when the meetings are held – everyone is welcomed to attend. But if you can’t come to the meetings, then please, please come and support the activities and help out where you can, or perhaps you could donate a prize for the various competitions and raffles. It’s a chance for everyone to come together to have fun and socialise!
